Today’s blog post looks at locomotive that has been looked at in some detail before on this blog, both in model and real form. This locomotive used to haul heavy coal trains in Wales, but now hauls heavy tourist laden trains. It was the most powerful star of the Kent and East Sussex Railway’s gala (click here for more).

Bedroom tax info

Finally got around to starting the point work on the quarry sidings today. Firstly, I drilled all the holes for the wiring and the point motor. Then I removed the spring from the turnout and cut off the ugly handles used for hand switching. Next, I soldered all the dropper wires to the turnout and fed them through the baseboard. After spreading some PVA glue on the trackbed and fitting some insulating fishplates, the point was eased firmly into place.

Three London derbies in the first eight games are just part of a tough opening few weeks of the 2014-2015 Premier League season for Crystal Palace.
The new season’s fixtures have been announced today, and Tony Pulis’s great survivors have been handed a trip to The Emirates against Arsenal on the opening weekend (the game is formally scheduled for Saturday August 16, though this may be subject to television demands), while welcoming West Ham to Selhurst Park the following week.
The opening forays of post-World Cup seasons are notoriously difficult to predict. The big-money sides may have had their international players back for only a brief pre-season, while other clubs will still be “bedding-in” some of their megastar summer signings. Nonetheless, taking on Arsene Wenger’s FA Cup-winners at home is unlikely to be the easiest opening game for Palace.
