ACV Railbus in 3mm/3D

At our recent local group visit to Kingston we saw the products of a recent commission in 3D by Terry Tracey running on his Allhallows layout.

The ACV railbus was seen as the potential saviour of many uneconomic branchlines however like many prototypes it was a failure (a fitter had to travel with it at all times as it was so unreliable).

However the 3mm version is not so. Terry had got someone to do the CAD drawing and then Shapeways did the business. As 3D cannot do windows Terry had to add the glazing and window.

Terry sourced a motor bogie to go in the centre car and along with a fine paint job has turned it into a fine model.

Medstead & Four Marks

Dropped in on the mid Hants on the way home from Weymouth. Orignally went to Ropley but admission only by ticket (£18) as it was a Thomas tank day (cannot believe MHR have given their soul to the world of corporate finance!) so a jobsworth would not let me pass! Not to be out done I thought let’s try Medstead so found station approach parked up and wandered on to the station no problem, there was even a Black 5 waiting in the station – what a difference – so coffee, loo break and pictures, shame about Ropley – its seems the preserved lines have forgotten who their bread and butter customers are, anyhow here are the pics

Visit to Corfe Castle

Easter Sunday saw my son Richard and I pay a visit to Corfe Castle. The castle was on his hit list of places to visit so we duly jumped in the car and made it so.

Journeying to the park and ride at Norden we jumped on the train to Corfe Castle for a 2 minute ride.

On arrival at Corfe we had a quick look round the station

And then off to the castle. £9 admission rather put us off so we wandered round the village and came across the model village at a reasonable £3.95 so in we went. Well worth the money as these views show

Then back to the village and we found a nature trail that gave better views of the castle.

Back to the village which suffers from major traffic congestion but still has some nice views

Corfe is a nice to visit but a car drivers nightmare.
