3mm Society AGM

My main task for May is to organise the 3mm Society AGM which this year was held in the Town Hall in Burton upon Trent.

Over 80 members attended with a variety of Goods on sale for members to indulge in.

With a keg of Charnwood Breweries Vixen in the bar and Cob rolls on offer, what more could you ask for!

With the formal business over in record time, competition entries judged, the Awards were handed out. To find out who won you will have to join the Society 😊.

As usual the modelling standard was high, judge for yourself

There was also a tribute to Richard Hollingsworth one half of Parkside who passed in February.

A retired professional railwayman, Richard was a good friend to the Society and enabled the Society 5 year wagon plan to be produced. Society member Paul Furner brought along his collection of Parkside kits ranging over 60. Thanks to Paul and his work with Richard he was instrumental in bringing the kits to members

So next year to Swindon for the Societies 55th AGM 👍

Addison Road

Phil Hutchings Layout, Addison Road was the invited guest layout to EM Expo at Bracknell last weekend.

Not only 3mm scale, 14.2 gauge but unique in featuring London Transport underground stock of various types along with the Metropolitan electric locos and Steam locos used by the underground.

In addition there is an abandoned railway and and extensive station building in LT Art Deco style along with trolly buses and other buses from the time.

Worked to an extensive timetable, the layout includes both branch and mainline. A fair bit of concentration is required to operate the layout but enjoyable nevertheless and I got a ply on the Sunday!

Here are the photos.

Phils Layout has recently featured in Hornby magazine.

Llanastr – yet another small layout – repost | esngblog

I realised that, having just written my post on expoEM and Llanastr, I had already blogged this little layout.  As it’s a busy week, I’ll repost this earlier screed.  It’s coming up to holiday season again, so I may well repost a few popular items.  We’ll see….. The blogsphere is a small place and downright…

Hayward’s Heath MRE

Myself and Mr P paid a visit to the Hayward’s Heath Show held at the Dolphin Leisure Centre. Apart from the parking which was horrendous (found that Mr P is very good at reversing his car down a long road!) the show held in 2 halls was pretty good.

A variety of scales (alas no 3mm) some decent layouts were on show. We also met a few Society members both 3mm and O.16.5 so had a good chinwag too.

Unlike a lot of exhibitions these days a decent guide was provided too.
