Pevensey Show

Well survived the show. Unfortunately the layout suffered from the heat and the track shifted causing the board joints to move. I also had to Jerry rig the wiring as had no power.

On the positive side a few notes to self for the future

  • Make a note of your wiring
  • Develop a non electrical solution for point control
  • Improve layout wiring
  • Do not use recycled wiring
  • Test your stock
  • Unify couplings
  • Despite the heat it was an enjoyable exhibition and I would like to thank Mr P and Mike for their company and help on the day – onwards & forwards.

    3mm Society AGM

My main task for May is to organise the 3mm Society AGM which this year was held in the Town Hall in Burton upon Trent.

Over 80 members attended with a variety of Goods on sale for members to indulge in.

With a keg of Charnwood Breweries Vixen in the bar and Cob rolls on offer, what more could you ask for!

With the formal business over in record time, competition entries judged, the Awards were handed out. To find out who won you will have to join the Society 😊.

As usual the modelling standard was high, judge for yourself

There was also a tribute to Richard Hollingsworth one half of Parkside who passed in February.

A retired professional railwayman, Richard was a good friend to the Society and enabled the Society 5 year wagon plan to be produced. Society member Paul Furner brought along his collection of Parkside kits ranging over 60. Thanks to Paul and his work with Richard he was instrumental in bringing the kits to members

So next year to Swindon for the Societies 55th AGM 👍

    Hayward’s Heath MRE

Myself and Mr P paid a visit to the Hayward’s Heath Show held at the Dolphin Leisure Centre. Apart from the parking which was horrendous (found that Mr P is very good at reversing his car down a long road!) the show held in 2 halls was pretty good.

A variety of scales (alas no 3mm) some decent layouts were on show. We also met a few Society members both 3mm and O.16.5 so had a good chinwag too.

Unlike a lot of exhibitions these days a decent guide was provided too.

    Westfest 2019

Saturday saw a run down to Winterborne Earls, nr Salisbury to visit 3mm Westfest organised by local member Vic Freemantle.

Always a popular event and judging by the full car park pretty busy too.

The Society shop and Seconhand were their plying their trade along with 3smr and members with delights to offer, not forgetting Peter White with the Society finescale wheels.

Now not only were there goods to be had but also a number of layouts on display.
